15.06.24 – 22.06.24 Things are looking a little better with the fishing at the moment. There are more fish in the pools, but still not as much as you would expect at this time of year. Unfortunately this week we lost totally 4 salmon. At the end of the week there was a real shock for all salmon fishermen in the Trondheim region. This is a situation that has never happened before on the Orkla. The government (Miliodirektoratet) announced at very short notice that fishing in 33 salmon rivers would be closed from June 23rd until further notice. This is due to the few returnees to the rivers at the moment. The situation regarding returnees will be monitored over the next two weeks. The government should inform us again by July 5th at the latest whether some of the rivers can be reopened based on the results of the monitoring. I have informed our guests by phone and email about the situation.
01.06.24 – 08.06.24 Finally, the time had come again. The new 2024 salmon season on the Orkla starts on June 1st. As every year, many salmon anglers were drawn to the Orkla with great anticipation, hopes and expectations. But unfortunately the conditions were not ideal. There wasn't really much snow in the winter. And May was the warmest May since records began in Norway! Temperatures of up to 30 degrees were recorded. That's why the Orkla and other salmon rivers in Trondelag had low water at the start of the season. For the Orkla, that meant 25 m3 instead of 80 - 150 m3 at a normal opening. That's why there have been few salmon in the river and fishing has been very slow so far. The long-awaited rain came in the middle of the week and the river went up to 80 m3. But fishing still remained very difficult. But that's also part of salmon fishing. But now we look forward to the coming weeks and hope for better conditions and fishing.
22.06.24 – 29.06.24 At the end of this week, the situation regarding returning salmon to the Orkla looks significantly better. See statistics and link. We are convinced that fishing on the Orkla will soon be allowed again (hopefully from July 6th). I will keep our guests informed about the current situation. https://www.nina.no/V%C3%A5re-fagomr%C3%A5der/Milj%C3%B8overv%C3%A5king-i-vann/Lakseinnsig-til-fjordene/Lakseinnsig-til-Trondheimsfjorden?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR05dE1ONBPmKUVFX81ADLI1plspFy53EuryAW6zQdhQhU4ePHx1_Jie-CE_aem_p0QavgI-HvhDUIyNrsNucw

08.06.24 – 15.06.24 The new week started just as slowly as the previous week. But on Monday the big rain came. The water level rose to almost 500 m3. So fishing was impossible until Tuesday evening. But then Erik lost a big salmon in Brusholen. And on Wednesday morning Frederic had a tough fight with an 8 - 9 kg fish in Finnholen. He lost the salmon just before landing. We are looking forward to great fishing in the next few days.
